A fairly manageable walk for beginners until it gets a little more challenging towards the peak due to the rough and steep climbs up, but nothing too crazy! That said, the views are 100% worth it - even though we visited on a cloudy day, the views of the town and surrounding fells from the summit were absolutely stunning. Be sure to wear proper shoes!

What a beautiful place. We were here, in Keswick, early August 2023. Walla Crag is a very do-able walk but we would recommend tackling it by walking along the lake first (lake on your RHS), if doing the short/simple circular route. It means you take the rocky steps up first and it's an easier walk then on the way down, on the other side. You still benefit from the spectacular views. We saw many parents with younger kids when we were there. If we had kids with us we would definitely have taken the route we chose, for trip safety.

An enjoyable walk took around 3 hours, weather had been raining beforehand but was dry and breezy on the walk. The ground was boggy underfoot in parts with some steep parts. In general would recommend

Lovely walk, perfect for beginners. Some parts can be steep but manageable. Small car park at bottom under postcode CA12 5UP. Perfect place to park if you don't want to walk far to get to it.

A walk from castle rigg hall campsite. Bit of a climb but great views from top. Then a steep descent to the lake and a walk to Keswick. Recommend

We enjoyed our walk up to Walla Crag. On a fine sunny day the panoramic views to the north, south & west are unrivalled. Up a class from Castlehead viewpoint. We got the Keswick launch from Keswick to Ashness ferry stage, took in Ashness Bridge then had a steepish but not difficult climb up to Walla Crag. The descent back to the town is will sign posted & rewards you with fine views of Blencathra & surrounding fells.

Quite an indistinct Wainwright but nice views to and from it. You have to hop over the style and there is a broad flat top with a small cairn at the top. Nothing much by way of a view on my visit due to bad weather.
